TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
MY NAME IS BONGEKILE I HAVE ENROLLED FOR B Ed
FOUNDATION PHASE PROGRAMME, IN THE UNIVERSITY OF MPUMALANGA…..
My
goal as a teacher is to inspire, learn, change and educate because I realize
the value of education and I want to affect positive change. As a teacher I
want to inspire students in all aspects of their lives, I want to be children’s
role models in order to encourage students to strive for greatness. Teach them to
be committed and how to realize their full potential. Motivate them to
participate, focus and inspire passion for language bring introverted students
out of their shells. Leave a permanent mark that will last for a life time in a
student’s life. I will learn as a teacher to best teach my students, because as
a teacher learning something you do every day. As a teacher learning will
expand my knowledge in my fields, through my career I will better understand
how to communicate affectively and teach efficiently. Learn how to better
handle stress and pressure and in will gain organizing skill from lesson plans
and grading assignments. I want to bring change in my career field as a teacher.
I want to change the face of education and the lives of students. In addition I
want to be the best educator I can be. I want to inspire and motivate students
to learn. I want to have different teaching methods in order to help student
engage in learning.
I
can explain the process of learning as the ability to acquire knowledge, to
learn, aviate instruction and change in behavior as a result of experience.
Therefore I can say that the process of learning can be complex because it
includes an individual’s background and that influence the way a person learns.
I
see learning as purposeful because students who learn are unique and may see
learning situation in a different view point and the response to learning may
differ, because each student acts in accordance with what she sees in a
situation. Learning is a result of experience since learning is an individual
process and therefore a teacher cannot do an experience for them but students
can learn by their personal experience. I can further state all learning is by
experience even though it take place in different forms, other learning
experiences involve the whole while others may be based only on hearing and
memory. Learning can be diverse because as an educator I may see student’s
objectives as only to train their memory and muscles but only to find that they
are underestimating the potential of the teaching situation, Students can learn
much more than expected if they fully exercise their minds and feelings.
Learning process can be classified by types of these processes and may include
verbal elements, conceptual elements, emotional elements, perceptual elements
and problem solving elements all taking place at once under a skillful
educator.
The
teaching process is based on principles of learning sometimes teaching can be
effective therefore I see a process of teaching as instructional since an educator
must prepare a lesson plan. A lesson plan should also include home study or
other special preparation to be done by the students. It can further accomplish
after reference to the syllabus or practical tests standards, I will use
objectives as listed in the syllabus and make certain instructions that follow
flow in a logical sequence from beginning to end. There are performed based
objectives used to set measurable standards and explain desired performance for
students and it usually involve the term behavioral objectives to explain
conditions in which skills or behavior will be demonstrated under frame work
and also the criteria. In addition
teaching and learning cannot succeed without the support and success of each
other.
As
a teacher my role is to positively interact with learners, create a safe
atmosphere for my students and make effective learning environment for all
students to improve the image of the school. I will commit and promote
education, always modify the learning and teaching strategies and take part in
professional development. As an educator providing helpful feedback in terms of
assessment is my obligation therefore I will manage both summative and
formative assessment in order to demonstrate my pastoral role. Try my best to
develop a supportive empowering environment for learners and with parents also.
Uphold the will to give sound knowledge of a subject content. Furthermore I
shall address and identify student’s needs, make sure they are mentally and emotionally
focused in learning.
The
learners role in teaching and learning situation is to engage actively in
learning activity demonstrate their knowledge and understanding, review their
learning through self-assessment. Learners must reflect on teaching practice to
evaluate materials, have information skill and interact with others. They must
have punctuality submit their work or task on the due date.
The
optimal learning can take place in a context of autonomy support which includes
parents support and proof that they have significant influence on student’s
perception offer them opportunity to provide meaningful rationales for their
not performing in less important activities. In involvement parents will take
part in their children’s education tell them the importance of schooling and
its value. Make the learning environment consistent and predictable to enable
students self-regulate their academic behaviors more efficiently.
My
value as a teacher is to expand educational opportunities in many ways that are
life changing for children/ communities or nations, operate in openness make
sure that the change I affect is significant and sustainable. I have applied
certain values which are leadership, intellectual curiosity, integrity and
honesty to guide and underpin my practice successfully.
